The process of undertaking Noise Impact Assessments (NIA) for planning application generally include: 


  1. Consolation with Local Planning Authority (LPA) detailing our methodology to each NIA.
  2. Baseline noise survey, either attended or unattended, to measure the existing noise environment at and around the proposed development.
  3. Calculation of noise levels on Noise Sensitive Receptors (NSR).
  4. Compare the calculated noise level with Local and National Planning Policy assess compliance.

A residential NIA report will typically assess and detail noise levels of proposed external amenity areas (gardens, balcony's) and façade noise levels across the development. Where appropriate, the report will suggest suitable mitigation measures, including glazing recommendations and plot orientation, to reduce noise levels within guideline levels.
